Fundraising

We raised over £200,000 for good causes.

Volunteers form Eastgate Shopping Centre

We raised money for good causes thanks to the efforts and generosity of our employees, occupiers, and visitors to our properties. By supporting local projects we generate goodwill and positive publicity. This helps to drive footfall to our retail properties and enhances our reputation.

Charities which used our properties for fundraising campaigns included Cancer Research, Marie Curie Cancer Care, the Meningitis Trust, PoppyScotland, Sue Ryder Care and the RSPCA.

At Eastgate Shopping Centre in Basildon, five volunteers cycled 300 miles from London to Paris, raising money for the Touching Tiny Lives Appeal. Another 25 members of the team cycled nearly 1,000 miles on exercise bikes in the Centre. Shoppers also bought 3,500 toy giraffes, funding three Giraffe incubators for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Basildon Hospital.

At Parkgate Shopping in Rotherham, six volunteers walked 40 miles from Birstall Shopping Park in Leeds to Parkgate, to fund a guide dog for the blind. Over 200 people spent the night sleeping out to raise money for Safe@Last, a charity for homeless children. Shoppers also donated 700 bags of goods for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

The events we hosted at our properties were often as much about raising awareness of important health, safety and well-being issues as about raising funds. At Broughton Shopping Park near Chester, Flintshire County Council offered breast screening in a quiet area of the Park.

We worked with charities and community projects to raise both funds and awareness.
