Employment and training

We helped to provide training to over 1,600 local people.

Learners at The Source at Meadowhall

The management teams at many of our retail properties worked with retailers and education and training providers to provide retail training to over 1,600 local people. These initiatives are helping to reduce retail skills gaps and improve the perception of retail as a career.

Many of our property managers also organised recruitment events, often in partnership with local authorities, local colleges and employment agencies such as Jobcentre Plus. These events helped more than 1,000 people to find work at our properties, at the same time as helping our retail occupiers to recruit at peak periods such as Christmas.

Next year, we aim to implement community employment and training initiatives at all of our major properties.

Employment and training initiatives generate local goodwill, driving footfall at our retail properties. They also help our retail occupiers to find and keep skilled and motivated staff.

  • During my 20 years as a retail manager I have never before experienced the level of support provided by The Source. The team works closely with retailers and offers a high level of support to businesses and learners. The Source has improved retention levels and increased staff motivation in my store.
