Main construction poised to begin
January 7th 2010
On 15 November, Crossrail reached the six month milestone since the start of preparatory construction work, with enabling works taking place at many sites. The project has also passed a fourth stringent external review by the Treasury’s Major Project Review Group and is now poised to move on to the main construction of the railway in 2010. Main tunnelling works will start in 2011 and Crossrail services will begin in 2017.
Crossrail’s Chief Executive, Rob Holden, comments: “Over the past six months the momentum driving Crossrail has been unstoppable. We have put together a very strong management team capable of taking this project through to 2017.”
