Staff volunteering

4 years of reading support to pupils
7 more volunteers joined this summer
Volunteers and children on the roof at York House

Children from Netley Primary School joined reading volunteers for an end of term lunch at our Head Office.

The children, who all receive reading support from British Land and Broadgate Estates volunteers, were greeted at our Head Office by their reading partners. They were then shown around the main office and behind the scenes by members of the building management team, even taking a trip to the roof. The children and their reading partners also enjoyed a special lunch together, with each of the children receiving a £10 book token funded by British Land.

“Reading programmes can have a massive impact on children’s reading ability, as well as really helping to boost their self-esteem and confidence. For volunteers it’s also incredibly rewarding getting to know a child and seeing them become more confident. There are children queuing up to be on this scheme so new volunteers are always welcome!”

The reading support we provide to children from Netley Primary School near to Regent’s Place in London NW1 also helps to enhance pupils’ speaking and listening skills, as well as providing them with positive role models.

Working together

The scheme is run by Camden Education Business Partnership, part of the London Borough of Camden.
