Cutting costs at Broadwalk House

Estimated savings of £32,000 for occupiers
Closer relationships with occupiers
New plant display in reception is cutting costs on flower arrangements

Broadgate Estates worked with occupiers to identify ways to cut service charge costs whilst maintaining services.

A renegotiated mechanical and electrical contract will reduce costs, with works previously carried out at weekends now being completed overnight by the on-site team.

“All managing agents should review their existing contracts, systems and procedures in consultation with occupiers. It is more than likely things are set up a certain way ‘because they’ve always been that way’. These reviews may identify opportunities to cut service charge costs with only minor impacts on service.”

Further savings have been achieved by replacing flowers in the main reception area with an attractive, and sustainable, plant display. The in-house reception team has also agreed to take on some of the administrative work previously outsourced.
