10 weeks work experience
Positive local relationships
Local student, Wasif Hossain, joined the Broadgate Estates team to gain important work experience and a reference.
After an intensive training programme run by East London Business Alliance (ELBA), he worked in a range of areas at Broadgate including property management, event management and communication.
“I have gained valuable experience working at Broadgate. It was my first job and the first day was quite scary as I didn’t know what to expect. The team was very welcoming and supportive. They showed me how to do things.”

He left the placement with new skills and more self-confidence, as well as a valuable personal reference. Staff who worked with Wasif also benefited from the chance to develop their coaching skills.
“The scheme is very worthwhile but it does require time and commitment to support the young person to help them to become proactive. ELBA supports the whole process including identifying possible areas of the business that may benefit.”
