Community team challenges

Lauren Dunmore volunteering at Netley Primary School.

During October, volunteers from British Land and Broadgate Estates participated in our annual team challenge events.

For the third year running we supported projects in the London Borough of Camden, where our Regent’s Place development is located.

At Netley Primary School, volunteers painted benches, plant containers and a play train in an array of beautiful colours. They also transformed an ugly concrete entrance area, much to the delight of teachers and children. They then decorated a stairwell with numbers to provide younger children with a fun way to practice counting.

“On the painting day one of the children didn’t want to go home because he liked the playground so much!”

- Feedback from Teaching Assistant, Gemma Cummins

“Seeing how much our efforts were appreciated by the children and the staff was really good. The time and effort put into the project was definitely worthwhile.”

- Broadgate Estates Volunteer, Jo Hall

At Waterlow Park, volunteers chopped back overgrowth and donned pond waders to clear weeds. They also built log habitats, as well as weeding walkways and covering them with wood chips.

“Nature conservation volunteering is a chance to learn new skills, enhance and create habitats for wildlife, promote health and well being, and help biodiversity. The site will directly benefit as a result of tasks carried out by volunteer groups to conserve and enhance this wild area.”
