Three British Land volunteers are supporting sixth form students at South Camden Community School.
Mentors usually meet their students for an hour each fortnight, either at the school or at our Head Office. Email contact is also encouraged.
“I now appreciate the many skills I use every day, both at work and outside. Focusing on someone else's personal development allows me to practice my coaching and has made me reflect on the moments which have moulded my life. A rewarding experience for me. Hopefully I am also playing some part in helping my mentee to achieve her full potential.”

Mentees benefit from the company and advice of someone who isn’t in the position of teacher or family member, but who has the student’s best interests at heart.
“I would definitely recommend the British Land mentoring scheme to a friend, as it is important to have someone to motivate you and give you a helping hand. Also, having a mentor means that you get advice and feedback from a professional person other than your teachers, which is great.”
- Sixth form mentee, Sahra
The current focus is on university applications and interviews; mentors may choose to stage practice interviews for their mentees and help them with personal statements, helping them to understand where their strengths lie and how they can demonstrate this.
“Working in partnership with British Land on the mentoring scheme has been good for the school, sixth form students and staff. Mentors have come into school and worked with students directly to help raise their aspirations and self motivation. As a result of this project we were also able to take a group of students to visit The Broadgate Tower.”
