Business policing at Broadgate

The Business Policing Team, based at 4 Broadgate Circus, celebrates a successful first six months.
The team, which was the first of its kind, was set up to improve policing services available to businesses at Broadgate. Specialist police officers and other staff are now on site every weekday to help with counter-terrorism, economic crime, business continuity, physical security, crime prevention and personal safety.
We provide space free of charge to the Business Policing Team to make this initiative possible.
“We are currently surveying occupiers to find out how we can help to make you and your businesses safer. We are pleased that other forces are also coming to talk with us to find out how they can improve business policing services in their areas.”
- Police Officer, Donna Murdoch

In August, the Business Policing Team held a summer roadshow in the Broadgate Circle to bring important personal safety messages to the 30,000 people who work at Broadgate. During December, they will be working with the occupiers’ human resource teams to communicate the Christmas Safety Campaign.
In October, the team worked with the Metropolitan Police to stage the media launch for National Identity Fraud Week at the Head Office of Herbert Smith LLP at Exchange House. This was followed by a well-attended seminar on staff vetting procedures, hosted by UBS at 1 Finsbury Square.
In November, the team held a conference covering key issues including counter-terrorism, business continuity and economic crime. This was attended by approximately 80 occupiers, with speakers including Emily Walker, a member of the 9/11 Commission in New York, and Sir David Veness, former Under Secretary General for Security and Safety with the United Nations.
"The Broadgate Business Policing Team has made significant strides in bridging the gap that had previously existed with the police and the business community. I see the deployment of not only regular police officers but also subject-matter specialists on site in the areas of counter-terrorism and financial crime as hugely beneficial to the business community.”
- Security and Risk Manager at UBS, Clement Abrew
